Paris
On my trip to Portland this past March, it was placed on my heart (and belly) to travel to Paris someday. I had a new desire to brush up on my french and to visit to this city, possibly solo. I wanted to explore, eat all the pastries, sip wine and just enjoy every moment.
Yesterday evening at the park, my (almost) 5 year old daughter said ‘I want to go to Paris’. I was like, ‘did I hear this right?’. I asked her to repeat what she said, and it was in fact Paris. ‘When did you learn about Paris, sweetie?’ ‘I don’t know, mom.’
I picked her up as she got ready to attempt the monkey bars. I left my hands around her waist and looked up into her gorgeous eyes…
Me: ‘Do you want to go to Paris with me?’
Her: ‘How about when I’m 6?’
Me: ‘That’s a little young. How about when you are 16?’
Her: ‘Or 18?’
Me: ‘Yeah, sweetie. Let’s go to Paris when you are 18.’
I’m mind-blown. This felt like one of those oh-so divine moments. My dream became her dream. I guess this trip is no longer solo.
